BurningMan – Artist Without Tickets- Scalpers -and The Future of Underground Music 3

My name is Jillian Ann ( bass kitty  )
I am a truly independent musician and artist.
I have watched the consolidation of the music companies bring about lessened diversity and generate less income each year.  In what has been an otherwise bleak landscape, the festivals have been a bright spot.  Brighter still has been the outpouring of creativity in the electronic and dance world where diversity is encouraged and free from entangling label contracts, artistic collaborations are the norm.
I have also seen communities shut down events that feature dj’s and electronic acts, labeling this kind of music as not creative and not worthy of the term ‘concert’, thereby falling under different rules.  Insomniac is proving that this “fringe” is indeed talented and can generate revenue in colossal proportions.  And it is not just here in the US, this is global, ,so much so in fact that larger promoters like Live Nation, who have avoided this kind of music in the past, are now becoming players. Time will tell if they understand the special dynamics of this type of music event or not, I hope they do or they will fail in their endeavors.

All of this makes what is happening with Burning Man so sad.  This was the start of many a career and the inspiration behind many of the festivals today.  It meant something to be a “burner”. Something special and inspiring happened at Burning Man and the world felt it.  For those of you who do not know, Burning Man does not pay any musical artists to perform.  Large camps are set up each with their own stages and people pay to stay in one camp or another.  Artists frequently will play several camps and it has traditionally been a terrific networking and artistic experience, the electronic version of Woodstock if you will with a lot more than just music.

Artists were offered discounted tickets as few could afford the price of the ticket and camping and all the associated costs and without them there would be no festival.  Everyone was a star,  and everyone made the festival what it was.  Now the scalpers have taken the tickets and hundreds of artists who are scheduled to play are unable to get any unless they want to pay over a thousand dollars for a ticket.  I understand that the tickets should have been purchased the instant they went on sale, but scalpers will always win in the race for tickets and that very fact is contrary to the philosophy of Burning Man.
I would like to believe that this is taking everyone by surprise as this has never happened before.  Between all of us maybe we can re-claim what is an important event for our community and protect it from the greed that has consumed the rest of our industry.
Or maybe not….

This is a list of artist without tickets ( last I heard )  and  created a facebook page to try to help find the artist tickets if anyone can help we would be extremely thankful <3

Set it Off and Why I wrote it 1

Set it Off
https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/357270/set-it-off

I can hear you
You’re not alone
I see you staring at the sky
Lift hands to light the fire
So lift your hands up to the sky
Lets set this whole world on fire

Wont you believe
The Time has come
To reclaim the dream
Theres no distance
You’re not alone
So stand up for what you
Believe in

So lift your hands up to the sky
Lets set this whole world on fire
So lift your hands up to the sky
Lets set this whole world on fire

———– Why I wrote this——————-
I wrote this song after seeing all the images and pictures from Libya and Egypt. Today I learned one of my best friends friend was killed there . I wrote to everyone who is there, who has been there or who will be there. I am not a supporter of violence and causing harm yet I am also not a believer in being passive and allowing people to murder and suppress others. I feel sadly many of us are disconnected from the truth and from the reality regarding out international situation and as a artist I often ask what can I do what can I say how can I make a difference.

I believe we must take a stand with our time, our energy our money what we support and how we support it much of the wars caused can be traced to corporate or political interest the lack of education on why thousands of people are killed is often suppressed or altered it is hard to know whats true anymore in the news or through various sources.

I believe in the youth, I believe in our future I believe us as artist, humans, can make a difference if we work together educate ourselves seek the truth and do the best we can to make a difference in our own lives. Recently I was at a event and a fight was brewing, my only words are its just not worth it. We cannot fight violence with violence, we cannot fight injustice with injustice . The only way I have found in my own life to end the violence and the harm is to stand firm and fight back with non passive brutal love.

I have had friends murdered, I have experienced rape, loss the death of loved ones for no logical reason and when those things happen it is easy to allow that pain and hurt to cause us to become just like those who sent the original bullet. Yet I have found even with the greatest losses and experiencing things such as being kidnapped, raped, and having my loved ones killed that I have the capacity to not bend down to that. To not become like that and with every day i am able to respond by pulling out a bullet and turning it into gold I am slowly one day one event at a time fighting back .

I know what these things feel like, i know how dark and scary and heartbreaking these things can feel like. I am not there but my heart feels for every single person in these situations and I may not be able to stand between the bullets but I hope to send one of my own out there in hopes that maybe I can inspire others to not bend and become part of the violence and harm but to rise above it all if we all chose to not respond to not harm to not bend or break and become consumed with the energy of hate harm and violence but rather transfer it into an energy which can be used to create and heal.

I have hope for humanity and for change but it starts with each of us as individuals .

“Lets set this world on fire”

a fire not of hate or violence but a fire that is fearless driven by the understanding only through love and learning to accept and embrace our differences can we stop the madness and fear that is driving so many.

I believe we change collectively change things one day one life one choice at a time, and its not always easy, its much easier to respond to violence with violence but that is getting us nowhere. In the end all the military all the money and all the power cannot protect us or save us. What are we really living and dying for?
My heart goes out to all of those who are suffering, and I wrote this for all of you be it in war or the war within your own life. I am just a stranger on the otherside of a computer but I know that I am not alone and neither are you.

I just want to say I believe in our capacity to love to evolve and to change not only our own personal lives but for those in our communities our citys our countries and our world….

“Know Us” Jillian Ann and Love & Light – + original Bruce Somers of Kidneythieves Version by Jillian Ann

“Know Us” Jillian Ann and Love & Light
Original by Jillian Ann + Bruce Somers of Kidneythieves

“Know Us”
Jillian Ann - Love & Light
Simplify Recordings
Remixes by An-ten-nae, NiT GriT, David Starfire, Splatinum, Knight Riderz, Stylust Beats, Shock-N, and Sugarpill,
Los Angeles-based artist Jillian Ann is a singer, songwriter, composer, and producer who’s toured the country and the world as part of the critically acclaimed and fan favorite trip hop act Heavyweight Dub Champion. Working with the band, and now as a solo artist, Ann’s amassed a discography a mile long. To call the woman merely a musician though really doesn’t do her justice.

Multi-faceted and multi-talented, Jillian has not only created beautiful music, but also works in the visual realm as well. Working as a model and actress, she’s walked the runway for Versace, modeled in campaigns for L’Oreal, and appeared next to Gavin Rossdale in music videos. In addition, she’s also a talent behind the camera, directing, producing, and editing a number of music videos and short films.

Appearing nearly every weekend of the summer from BC to California to Colorado with HwDC, Auditory Canvas and as a solo artist, Ann has become a staple of the vibrant West Coast festival scene. That said, leave it to a forward looking label like Simplify Records to pair this dance music veteran with the hottest newcomers on the West Coast, Love & Light. In their original composition, Ann’s haunting vocal pairs with Love & Light’s brand of playa-fied schlump funk in what is sure to be one of 2011’s biggest glitch hop tracks.

Throw in remixes from a who’s who of the best of the West and beyond, including An-ten-nae, NiT GriT, David Starfire, Splatinum, Knight Riderz, Stylust Beats, Shock-N, and Sugarpill, and you have this monster of an EP, Know Us.

Confess+ Song + Remixes + Video +Site 3

T

his track is the start of a new body of work and marks a bit of a departure for me into a new sound. It was produced by Bruce Somers, the Co founder of The Kidneythieves and he brings a heavier quality to the track while still keeping the Electronica sound which I have been developing.

In addition to the original version, I was fortunate to get a vast collection of alternate interpretations that expand the musical journey, crossing many genres from dubstep, idm, glitch, drum & bass, trance and other creative blends from a roster of extremely talented artist including Auditory Canvas, Robert Vadney, DJ Vapour, Henry Strange, David Kira, and many others, all opening doors into different electronic musical worlds.

Below you can listen to all the tracks, buy them or get them for free (steal from me) you can see the videos and also I wanted to share my story on this song and what it means to me below. This song is a dedication to all of those who Bi, Gay, Lesbian etc, and anyone who has been judged for their expression of sexuality.

Confess

The Song, The Production, The Video, The Remixes , The Website

Confess + Remixes by Jillian Ann

The Song
“Confess”
was inspired years ago, as I observed in others and ended up being the target of harsh judgments and condemnation over choices in sexuality and lifestyle. I grew up in Georgia, in a very religious home where I was told that having sex before marriage was evil, homosexuals and bisexuals were damned and basically that sex was evil and a corrupting influence. Looking back, it’s a good thing that most of the people who held these beliefs did not even suspect there were such things as transsexuals or gay couples with children or it would have made the average church goers apoplectic. I, and countless other children, were programmed to believe these things and it caused me to have a intense internal battles for years even as I went forth and met some pretty great people who were damned for all eternity.
Confess
was written while I was living in New York. I remember that I was coming home from a weekend spent with my lover at the time, I was on the train and it was Sunday morning and I wrote the chorus first, then went home and wrote the rest of the song.
It was a moment of light piercing through all I had known, a moment of making a choice to live and love without regret, to love those I love despite them being a man or a woman, to love how I love, be it a way which some don’t understand and or accept. In a world where I feel religion has been used to suppress our own natural awareness and path and that has separated sexuality and spirituality as well as caused many to feel guilty or wrong about their natural selves. I wanted to stand for something else.
This song was my way of taking back something for myself, believing in something because it felt right in my heart and soul despite rules and limitations that were created by a bunch of dead men in order to keep me controlled and unaware or living in guilt and shame. Sexuality and spirituality are closely linked for me, but suppression and hypocrisy create a world in which the molesting of children, rape, and general sexual abuse happens all the time and are quietly swept under the covers. Meanwhile gays, lesbians, bi-sexuals and those who prefer to play darker are demonized and labeled evil and told they are going to burn in hell forever. After years of struggling with this I came to understand that who I was and how I was and who my friends were was not evil or wrong. This is my response to all that tried to put me in a box, called me ‘wrong’ out of fear and programming. For me, love should not be limited, should never be deemed evil, to love someone to share your body, energy to explore different levels of trust and closeness is nothing but beautiful. It should come as no surprise that incidents of rape and domestic abuse are higher in the “bible belt” than anywhere else per capita. I personally experienced abuse and feel that in order for us to end the cycle, we have to let go of the idea that our own sexuality is evil, we should accept what is and ourselves and allow ourselves to love as we feel, guided and connected from within our hearts and spirits. The energy which leads to such tragic events as a child being raped, often comes from a deep suppression and fear created by ideas, this song is about another idea.. to love and live without regret, to love as we feel, regardless of what anyone told us, for that is their perspective and their ideas and it doesn’t make it true.
The only truth I know is how to love and after making a choice to no longer live in guilt or fear because of something someone taught me because of an idea which when put under a razor didn’t hold up has lead me to this.. so this song is a reflection of making that choice to stand up for what I believe in when it comes to love and sexuality.
To Love without Regrets…..
This is what Confess is about.

The Production
Because the song was so personal, I wanted to find the right person to help me finish it. I worked with more than one person on this song before finally connecting with Bruce Somers (http://www.brucesomers.com) we have the same manager, and he took me over there one day to meet him. But I have to start this story back when I found the kidneythieves (http://kidneythieves.com) I was living in New York and one day my friend said “you have to hear this” I listened and something stuck and it lived in my headphones for years. I loved the music, the vibe, I dug into the band as much as I could and then I didn’t find them, until years later we were under the same manager. Bruce has worked with some amazing people and besides kidneythieves he has also worked with The Pussycat Dolls, Good Charlotte, Jay Gordon (Orgy), Toby Wright (Korn), Dylan McLaren and Sid Riggs (Juliette Lewis and the Licks, The Misfits), RA (Sahaj), and Sean Beavan (of 8mm, NIN, Marilyn Manson and Unwritten Law fame) and Bruce even worked with Michael Jackson. Bruce has also composed music for film and television working with high profile directors such as Doug Liman (Swingers, Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, etc.), composer Mark Isham (River Runs Through It, Crash, The Black Dahlia, etc.), and Sony Music.Bruce has composed numerous national television commercials including spots for Mazda, Sears, Epson, Dodge, and Pontiac. Bruce’s skills also include being a music mixer and a recording engineer.
I will admit deep down I was a little nervous, when you’re sitting in the studio with someone who was part of one of your favorite bands as a teenager, it can be that way. We played him a demo version and he was into it and so we got together and it just came together like magic. Sometimes things just click and this was one of those times, I am super excited to finish more material working with Bruce. Creating it was magical at last it felt right and finished, I felt like it finally had become what it was to become. Songs are like that I feel like my duty is to just carry them through and make sure they get through, and find others to help. Working with Bruce was very mind expanding and I have to say I utterly love working with him. Not only does he have so many fun things to play with but is a amazing musician and a real artist who tunes in and really cares. I am a huge fan of his not only as a producer but as a creative collaborator … I am excited to write and finish more material with him in the near future.

The Video “Confess”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdPSKZxcPTo

My partner in crime wrote an amazing behind the video piece here ( http://billysheahan.com/blog/?p=823) he may have said it all better than me;) but below is my versionIt all started through an email, as most of my life does in one way or another. I got an email from a photographer in Chicago who really wanted to shoot me. I loved his work, he loved mine, it was a perfect connection. Billy soon became one of my best friends and one of my favorite photographers to work with, (http://billysheahan.com/) he pushed me I pushed him, his home was always a cocoon, I always grew he offered me a place to create and express myself fully .
It always made for amazing pictures and a deep friendship. We both continued to evolve with our fascination with imagery and we both started to get into film and moving pictures. With the Canon D5 I saw a world of possibilities open up, and one day the light bulb went off, ” we can make a video look like a picture” with the filters and the same lighting that he used to make amazing art with me and if we could make it move then it would be epic. We did a little spot for fun

I loved how it turned out and it gave me lots of ideas,My manager was going to Midem and wanted to take some of my work with him, I wanted a video to go with the song. My dream is to have an amazing video for each song, all moving works of art. Being independent and funding this all on my own meant I was working with both limited time and very limited funds, I emailed Billy the song, which was not finished yet but telling him I thought we could make a video in the next few weeks and have it done in time for Midem. This happened during the holidays, in the winter, shooting in Chicago, details that I didn’t factor in, I just knew we had to do it and do it now, without a budget, without anything other than our creative energy and imagination. I reached out to Chelsey Usher my old roommate from New York who happens to be one amazing stylist who also happened to have moved to Chicago and asked her if she would be willing to give up her holiday weekend to make some art. She was down and not only did she rock on hair and makeup and styling she also let us use her home for shooting, the shower scene, comes from her shower ,she was sick and worked despite being ill, long days long hours she was amazing.

Once I knew we were going to shoot I contacted my friends at S&G clothing ( http://sandgclothing.com ) to see if I could pull clothing from them, I love the clothing they create and it is earth friendly, I love the values they have and their work ethic. I wanted to feature their designs in the video. The clothing really played a role in the video, after spending years in the modeling industry I like to work with and support designers who not only make amazing clothing but also try to be aware of how their work effects the planet and the culture. I love their work and support them not only because they are amazing people, amazing designers but because they are aware of what they do and how they do it. I needed my counter part, casting is always complex for me, I tend to work with people I know or friends of friends, finding someone to play my counter part, my mirror wasn’t as hard as I thought, I had a few in mind but ended up going with Rachael Weathers after she was sent to me through other photographers who told me I had a twin. She was a pleasure to work with, performed wonderfully and was super sweet and helpful on set.

The day before we were going to shoot I found out I had lost my Piano Location, I had met Deborah Vogt at a trunk show in Los Angeles the same week. While we were talking she told me she had just moved from Chicago and had been involved with a large artist community there, she currently runs Dialect Gallery in Downtown LA ( http://www.downtowndialect.com/) once I realized we didn’t have a location I called her asking if she knew of anywhere with a cool setting and a piano . She was so kind and gave me names and numbers of people to call, now let’s just reflect, this is someone I met a week before and I am calling to find a piano with no real budget and she hands over contacts as if we had known each other for years. When people are so kind and generous it gives me hope in humanity and in the further creation of a better world through our little actions. The next thing i know I am on the phone with Max Glascott of Catalyst Chicago ( http://www.myspace.com/chicatalyst ) Max was amazing he invited us over to look at the space. Once arriving I was in heaven, in fact I didn’t want to leave, studios, piano, kitchen a huge making art living life space that was not only a perfect set but the vibe was amazing. Max was super sweet and I hope we get to continue to create together, they were so kind and gave us full run of the space to work on the video. It was an space full of great things to build sets on the fly with. They made us coffee and were nothing but supportive. Shooting there was epic and fun, it ended up being so much fun I don’t think any of us wanted to leave. Max ended up doing a remix for Confess which I really love, ( http://soundcloud.com/jillianann/confess-the-abominable-twitch-seven-year-plan ) I hope to do some more music with him or go stay at Catalyst again and create even more beautiful things. Once we had all the pieces in place, Billy Rachael and I all sat down and went over my vision, we all put in our ideas, Chelsey came up with some as well, I like to work with people like that, I don’t know or see everything I may have a vision but I was working with people who all saw things I didn’t see but really helped contribute. My manager sent Jean us some inspiration and we plotted how to pull it all off in two days of shooting in the cold and snowy Chicago winter. The next thing I knew we were shooting, all of us working together, it was really beautiful for me, for years it has been my dream to create music on this level and then to create visual art to match. I have spent my life learning all of them so I could fuse them one day. The team I put together are all people I feel are amazingly talented and some of the nicest most creative people I have ever met which are the kind of people I love to create with. Shooting was so much fun, even though we were all under the gun and working around the clock the love and support made it so much fun. I was sad when it was over, and when we all had to go back to our own worlds.

I didn’t want to go, but once home Billy and I and Jean were all in close contact through the editing process, editing is such a vital part to the video, as an artist its one of the most important parts to me, I have found I like to be really involved, Billy and I went back and forth, exchanging ideas, he sent me rough drafts I would come back with ideas, at one point I went through and watched everything we shot and time coded all the parts I liked the most. Once Billy Jean and I were happy with a edit then it went to Kelly Armstrong ( http://www.colorplayground.com ), who added magic through creating beautiful color pallets to bring the colors out even more. As it really came together I was growing even more excited, I wanted to create a beautiful art pieces to express something that has often been left in the dark and or perceived as cheap, naughty, dark, bad, For me being an artist who likes to play with limitations and explore many aspects of life and sexuality I wanted to create something which showed the beauty of such things. I hope I succeeded in some way.

Confess The Remixes
I believe a song can have a thousand forms, for me I want to song to reach as many people as possible and view remixes as just ways to let a song expand and reach people it may never have otherwise reached. Below is the story behind each remix, well my version, and the people involved with them

Confess (Auditory Canvas Remix )
Auditory Canvas , Summer Rain Recordings
http://auditorycanvas.net
http://www.summerrainrecordings.net
I think I got the first message sometime in 2009, I was touring with a band Heavyweight Dub Champion at the time, he kept writing, I liked what he did but at the time I was unable to work with him but we kept in touch. Then I finished Confess and reached out to him about doing a remix, he did it and did it well. He quickly became someone I was calling often about one thing or another, he was always there, supportive, but at the same time brutally honest which is something I respect. Then he sent me music, to do vocals for, I was in the middle of moving and major life transitions so I played with it but it took me awhile to record anything. Time passed we stayed in touch then one of the biggest festivals was coming up and he invited me to play, he took a chance, we met rehearsed in the car into the late hours of the morning then the next day performed at Lightening in a Bottle. Magic happened which has lead to us deciding to do more music together. I have been a huge fan of warm beautiful IDM, Glitch, Downtempo for years ( Massive Attack, Baoards Of Canada, Random Rab, Trentemøller, Telefon Tel Aviv etc) and so I love to co create that type of music just as much as my heavier work. He has become a friend and I respect him massively, as a person and a artist, he is one to watch driven, determined and not playing games and not to mention he is always working on music, non stop, I am excited to see where this one goes. If you are into beautiful downtempo IDM dance music I would highly advise you to check out Auditory Canvas as well as the other artist he has signed to his label.

Confess Jens Gad Enigmatic Mix
Jens Gad, Enigma Virgin Records,
I must Confess that Enigma was one of the big influences on me over the years, I remember the first time I heard ‘Return to innocence’ it changed the way I saw music. Years later I stumbled on Jens, who was part of Enigma for many years, and we start emailing back and forth. The next thing I know we are eating at Souen in New York talking about music and art visions and dreams. Which then lead to us writing and recording some music together, making lots of super hot photos, and also this remix. He is not only a talented producer and remixer, but also is very good at taking pictures. We spent many late nights creating writing and making pictures and talking. Sometimes I didn’t get enough sleep but that’s what two driven creative people can do to each other. I really love this remix and am looking forward to seeing what happens next, Jens is usually to be found in NYC, LA, Ibiza or Berlin creating music and images, it was a huge learning experience for me to work with him and I really grew through the collaborations and co creation time together. If you haven’t heard Enigma I highly encourage you to expand your musical collection.

Confess Robert Vadney Remix , Robert Vadney Radio Mix, & Robert Vadney Dub Mix
Robert Vadney, Perfecto Records
I have yet to meet him in real life, I hope someday that we can lock ourselves up and make some music in real time. We have been emailing, talking and passing music back and forth for a few years now. Robert is amazingly talented, super creative, and nothing but a pleasure to work with and talk to. In fact I would talk to him allot more if I wasn’t always working. He is one to watch Paul Oakenfold already found him and signed him to Perfecto Records, he has been working with Perfecto for sometime making dance floor killers, he has been supported and played by Dj Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, Above & Beyond, M.Schultz, Aly & Fila, Suzy Solar, Nat Monday, Adam White, the legendary Paul Oakenfold and many more. I really enjoy working with him and hope we get to continue to co create as we can,and someday actually get to hang out somewhere besides digital communications through our machines. If you are into deeper progressive dance music I would recommend checking out all of his works:) and don’t forget if you love it buy it, as young artist we depend on you to help support us
He also made this,Video Remix

Confess David Kira Remix
David Kira, Summer Rain Recordings
I had just left San Francisco, ended a relationship, left all I had behind to start over. I was staying with my friends in Topanga Canyon one day I saw a friend post about David Kiras new EP, I went and downloaded it instantly. The next thing I knew it became one of my top played driving soundtracks. The surreal deep layers full of emotion but still locked in a trance had me captivated. I was speaking to David (Auditory Canvas) and mentioned how much I loved David Kiras work, and he said that he would most likely do a remix for me. I was super excited so when I got the yes I was giddy. I am a huge fan of experimental electronic music, noise, complex glitch, IDM, and drone, and so on, some of my all time favorite music falls into the land of extreme experimental. For years I was really into fusing this with songs and still am. David Kira hit a spot in me that connected me to my love of this type of experimental deep electronic music. I am hoping that through these remixes I can expose people to all types of music and other artist they may never have heard of . When David Kira sent me the remix I was in love, with the abstract, surreal, deep layers he created, it causes me to drift into another world and I love music which can take me to other worlds. I hope you will take time and check out his other work, its great stuff for driving expanding the mind, for sex, for drifting into other worlds .

Confess The Abominable Twitch “Seven Year Plan”
The Abominable Twitch, Catalyst Chicago
http://abominabletwitch.wordpress.com
http://www.alphabasic.com
http://www.fritenite.com
A beautiful one, he is part of Catalyst Chicago, ( the place we shot lots of my video “Confess” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdPSKZxcPTo ) you know when you walk in and you just feel at home, that’s how it was with Max. He was kind enough to let us use his space to shoot the video, and I got to see his studio at Catalyst, then he did this amazing sexy dub step remix for me which I love. I wish Chicago and Los Angeles were the same city so we could work on music together. He is super talented as a musician and producer, I am excited to see where he ends up. He also is very supportive and active in the artistic community in Chicago and anytime I see an artist really supporting and helping nurture a community be it by creating space for other artist or supporting them through creative expressions and generosity it really makes me like them even more:) check out all of his music and if you hear of them throwing any events or need a place to create in Chicago I highly recommend Catalyst and Max, and now I hope someday we can make some more music. My hope is we can sell enough music so that we as musicians can actually use our time to make music, I know downloading is easy but when people don’t actually buy music or come to shows it means we don’t get to make music as much because we have to fund our music some other way, so my PSA is if you love music support it;) come to a show, buy a cd a tshirt tell your friends we need you:) and now back to our regular programming.

Jillian Ann – Confess DJ Vapour remix
DJ Vapour, www.36hertz.com

www.myspace.com/vapourdj
This is a cool story, I was making experimental electronica a few years ago and Nick Salt Contacted me off Facebook, we became friends and he is a amazing guy. Then i was in London and after a large drama involving someone not liking no I was working with I ended up at Nick Salts friend Kirsty Hawkshaws place ( KirstyHawkshaw.com ) now Kirsty and Nick are amazing friends and amazingly supportive of me and have been since the get go and i have to give them both huge props, Kirsty is the voice of many huge hits including Halcyon (Orbital) Just Be ( Tiesto ) and too many more to list she also happens to be one of the nicest people i have ever encountered and we share a birthday . She and Nick work with know DJ Vapour, and when I was getting Confess remixed I contacted Nick to see if he wanted to remix it, for we have talked about creating for sometime, he wasn’t able to but put me in touch with DJ Vapour who did this mix. Now I never met him, but we share good people in common and I love his work and was excited to have him do a mix. I love what came out, it reminds me of the old school drum and bass I was such a huge fan of. Back in the day you would find me on the dance floor especially if any of the Metal Hedz were involved . The Remix wasn’t even out yet and I got a request from DJ Vapour that DJ Storm ( from Kemistry And Storm, METALHEADZ) had request to use the track in a mix for K MAG ( http://www.kmag.co.uk/ ) DJ Storm is one of god mothers of Drum and Bass and to be included in one of her mixes was an honor. I have been a huge fan of her work over years, since I was dancing to the music in old warehouses at four am. You can find a interview on her and the mix here ( http://www.kmag.co.uk/editorial/features/dj-storm-guest-mix ) I want to say a special thanks for this one and all who are involved, to Nick Salt for connecting the dots, to Kirsty Hawkshaw for always supporting me, to DJ Vapour for his amazing remix, and to DJ Storm for featuring it and including it in her mix and to K Mag for featuring my work.
I hope you will take the time out to check out all involved and their music

Confess Henry Strange Remix
Henry Strange
http://www.HenryStrange.com
I had just moved to LA, and I was reaching out to people i knew, I reached out to Ysanne (http://ilovestrings.com) or maybe she reached out to me, but either way she told me I needed to connect with Henry so I went to go meet him . I love Henry, he is amazingly talented, and one of the coolest people I have met in the industry. When I say super talented he can produce anything and is really really good. Our studios were down the street from each other for awhile, and so we saw lots of each other, for awhile. I have sadly moved to downtown LA now and see less of him but I hope he and I can make some music in the near future. I asked if he would be down to do a remix, and when he played me this one I loved it. Its sexy, its emo, its dancey. I almost moved in and never left, and again he is one to watch, super talented, a good person and lots of fun, and you have to see the chicken hat on the dance floor he knows how to rock it like no other. He also has been in involved with projects such as “Rabbit In The Moon” and has done production work for many other large acts. He is in Los Angels and when not on the dance floor with his famous chicken hat you can usually find him making amazing music in his studio. I highly recommend you stalking him, and buying finding all his music, going to his shows and if you need a producer or remixer I highly recommend him. and a special thanks to Ysanne who engineered this all, if you need someone who is killer with Strings she is amazing and has worked with some other amazing artist like the Smashing Pumpkins amongst others so check out her work as well.

Confess Adrian Carter Remix

She was beautiful, I was at a fashion show in New York, I felt her somewhere deep. I had to talk to her, and so I did, we became very close, I saw her she saw me, we both were singer songwriters with dark hair . We supported and loved each other and still do, her name is Jane, Jane Silence I moved to the west coast and I miss her like I miss part of myself. She has since gone on to do very well writing and creating music and working with a fine collection of producers herself. So when head hunting for remixers I reached out to her to ask her if she knew of any talented ones and she sent me a list. Now lets stop, she was sharing, it could have been just as easy for her to see me as “competition” but no she cuts off her right hand and hands me months of digging connections and relationships and so she deserves a huge props for being generous and willing to share her treasures. I feel as artist we have to support and help each other out, to do any less is sad because its about letting the inspiration into the world, so it can continue to light fires. I contacted Adrian because of Jane’s high recommendation and because she sent me he adopted me and has been nothing but loving and supportive of both of us. Adrian is super talented, super quick and super sweet. He also since has been nothing but supportive regarding cross promotion and energetic support . I am excited to see where both of them go, I am super excited to hear the continued creative collaborations coming from her, from her and him and our future creations. I would say this track falls into a minimalist techno class, her music is as deep as she is and as beautiful as she is.:) so check them both out:) add them stalk them, listen to there music and if you like it support them.

Confess Protilius Remix
Nathaniel Jones
protilius.com
My love for industrial music started when I first heard Nine Inch Nails Hurt on the radio. I then became a NIN fan although I never went to a show, I just bought the CDS and was fascinated with the energy and the texture of the music. As well as the lyrics, in a land of lots of music which lyrics didn’t hit home I often found lyrically I connected with what was being said by those typically seen as dark. NIN opened the door for metal and industrial music and my collection has included everything from NIN, Rob Zombie, Prodigy, Korn, Apocalyptica, The Birthday Massacare, The Kidney Thieves, 30 Seconds to Mars , Deftones amongst others. I always loved industrial/metal music, I always had a place in my life for heavy intense dark music. Working with Bruce From the Kidney Thieves has allowed me to really create a hybrid between the worlds I love. Nathaniel and I found each other through each others work, his work is industrial but very melodic and melody focused, we connected about production as well as creating together, due to me being in Los Angeles and him being far away so far all we have gotten to do is this remix. But he is one of the hardest working driven always doing something artist I have encountered so far. He is always working and learning and trying to evolve which I respect. Our track went to number 2 on the broadjam.com industrial charts, which is really good considering I haven’t even told anyone it existed yet . He has created a large amount of music already and is always creating, check out his work, his remixes, his productions. He is a talented one and I cant wait to see where he ends up in ten years.

He and I have been tossing music, poetry, writings, emails musings back and forth for awhile. He and I did a record together called “Eden” which I am going to re release soon. I contacted him and said, I have something for you to play with and as usual he sent me back some very creative very unique remixes. He is a true artist, always thinking, digging, creating, dreaming, writing. We have never met, he tired it was during a very chaotic time in my life and so I was unable to meet him. Yet we have exchanged many emails and many ideas. A true artist who takes ideas and twist them in unique ways. These two remixes include the only other instrumental remix , I look forward to more creative remixes and collaborations with this one.
